Physarum spp. Sporangia

These images of sporangia were provided by Lance T. Biechele. Five different species are shown; in vertical order they are P. globuliferum, P. pulcherrimum, P. roseum, P. polycephalum, and P. viride, respectively.

The photo below was taken in 1990 from a specimen of P. polycephalum that was collected in Somerset County, Maryland.

The specimen of P. viride (below) was collected on the Eastern end of Long Island and photographed at the 1977 NAMA Foray in Athens, WV.
