This low magnification photomicrograph shows a fairly typical sample of skin, with epidermis at "1", dermis at "2", and a merocrine (eccrine) sweat gland at "3". The structures at "4" are the secretory coils of the less common "apocrine" type of sweat gland. These are found only in certain places in the body, such as the groin and axilla. The region around "4" is shown at higher magnification in SKIN 07A.
