SKIN 05A

Full frame width = 1000 um
This micrograph shows a portion of the thin skin of the scrotal sac in a slide comparable to Loan slide H75b. The epidermis is at the bottom of the field and dermal connective tissue occupies most of the rest of the field. In the center of the field are several structures associated with a hair follicle. The number "1" is placed on the external root sheath (here very similar to the overlying epidermis) in between two cross sections of a hair shaft (presumably arcing through the field). Numbers "2", '3", and "4" are placed, respectively, on a patch of arrector pili muscle, portions of sebaceous glands, and some sweat gland ducts. SKIN 05B shows a similar grouping of structures in an adjacent area of this same slide.
