This moderate magnification photomicrograph was taken of a specimen of skin similar to that in SKIN 03. It shows the approximate junction between the dermis (above) and the hypodermis (below); the epidermis (NOT in the field of view) would be above the top of the field. At "1" is a Pacinian corpuscle, with several peripheral nerve fasicles nearby (e.g. at "2"), some of which may be "connected to" the sensory structure. A muscular artery is seen at "6", and adipocytes of the hypodermis are at "5". Portions of sweat glands (SG) occupy much of the field; the numbers "4" indicate sweat gland ducts, while "3" indicates a secretory portion of a gland, seen at much higher magnification in SKIN 02A.
