This low magnification photomicrograph was taken of a slide of thin skin (human, pigmented). The epidermis is at "1", while "2" and "3" indicate, respectively, the papillary and reticular layers of the dermis (the latter extends to the bottom of the field). A hair follicle (HF) and a portion of a sweat gland (SG) are indicated. The region around the asterisk (to the left of the "1") is seen at higher magnification in SKIN 01A.
