PANCREAS 01
Hide Legend
Full frame width = 1000 um
This low magnification photomicrograph of human pancreas shows several lobules of the organ. The triangular mass of interlobular connective tissue to the right-center of the field contains a large interlobular duct, apparently (the preservation is poor) lined by simple columnar epithelium. There are also several smaller ducts and some blood vessels near the large duct. The lobules consist of numerous exocrine secretory acini, separated by delicate strands of connective tissue in which run (not easily seen at this magnification) smaller blood vessels and ducts (intralobular). The white arrow (left side of the field) indicates one of the Islets of Langerhans (endocrine secretory cells), which are just barely distinguishable from the exocrine acini.
