Hide Legend
Full frame width = 395 um

Here, at higher magnification is the region labeled "X" in Oral Cavity 13. The layered structure of the developing tooth crown is quite obvious. Proceeding from the top of the field to the bottom are: the ameloblasts (A), an artefactual separation between the ameloblasts and the enamel (X), enamel (E - recall that this material has been demineralized so that it could be sectioned), dentin (D), predentin (PD), odontoblasts (O), and the loose connective tissue (mesenchyme) of the developing pulp cavity (P).
