This low magnification light micrograph shows the region labeled "B" in Oral Cavity - Reference. The pulp cavity (P) of a developing tooth is surrounded by the cellular layers that will give rise to dentin, enamel, and cementum: the large "X" indicates the developing tooth crown, which is seen at higher magnification in Oral Cavity 14. Surrounding the developing tooth are the the bone (B) of the developing mandible, within which bone marrow (BM) is already apparent. Note also a prominent peripheral nerve (N), as well as a bundle of skeletal muscle (M).
