Oral Cavity 04

Hide Legend
Full frame width = 395 um

At higher magnification, the region around "E" in Oral Cavity 03 reveals two distinct sorts of acini: the bright red mucous acini such as at "A" and the dull brownish serous acini (B). Note also the small clusters of serous cells, such as at "C", that seem to form a "cap" or "demilune" over many of the mucous acini. This field also reveals two small intercalated ducts: the one at E appears to have an epithelium made up of a mixture of both mucous and serous cells, whereas the duct at "D" is almost indistinguishable from the surrounding serous acini.
