This is a very low magnification view of an H&E preparation of submandibular salivary gland; the slide is from the same batch as loan slide H38c. The parenchymal clusters occcupy most of the field and are separated into lobes and lobules by delicate septae of connective tissue, such as at F, in which the larger ducts are found. While most of the alveoli are of serous secreting cells (A), some mucous clusters (B) can be found. The ducts range from small intralobular ones (C), to larger interlobular ducts (D) some of which are probably striated (although this cannot be determined at such low magnification), to the largest (excretory) ducts (E) many of which are lined by pseudostratified columnar epithelium.
