This micrograph, taken of a thin plastic section of monkey lymph node, shows the approximate boundary between cortex (right) and medulla (left). The * is in the lumen of a post-capillary venule: these thin-walled vessels (often with a relatively "tall" endothelium) allow the easy passage of lymphocytes between the bloodstream and the paracortex (and in the reverse direction).
