Full frame width = 1000 um

This low power photomicrograph shows a lobule of the human thymus. The letters "C" and "A" indicate portions of the capsule and some adipose tissue, respectively. The red bars span the cortex, whereas the black bar indicates the extent of the medulla. Recall that the thymus, being a "primary" lymphoid organ, does NOT contain lymph nodules. The green arrow points to the largest of several Hassell's Corpuscles in the medulla.
