Full frame width = 1000 um

This section of large intestine passed through a fold in the wall so that, on the left, the mucosal glands are cut in longitudinal section whereas, on the right, the glands are cut in cross section. For orientation the submucosa ("Sb") and the muscularis mucosa ("M") are indicated. Note the lymphoid aggregate (mostly in the mucosa) at the arrow and note that there are even a fair number of lymphocytes in the submucosa.
