Intestines 07
Hide Legend
Full frame width = 395 um
This section of ileum is comparable to that seen in Intestines 06, except it is at higher magnification. Note the muscularis mucosa ("MM") and the blood vessel ("BV") in the submucosa. The small asterisks (*) call attention to cells in mitosis, a common finding in the intestinal epithelium. Note the lymphoid aggregate occupyng the lower left portion of the field; while such aggregates may be found throughout the gastrointestinal tube, it is typical of the ileum that such an aggregate would be found to be confluent with a mass of lymphoid nodules (Peyer's patches). The bases of the two glands at "G" are shown at higher magnification in Intestines 07A.
