Bone marrow smear. The cells labeled "A" and "B" are neutrophilic myelocytes. Note the flattened nucleus and the pale zone in the cytoplasm where the Golgi is located. Granules are small, and not easily discernable. The cell labeled "C" is a neutrophilic metamyelocyte. The nucleus has the distinctive "peanut-shaped" morphology. Note the difference in sizes that can be observed. The cell labeled "D" is a basophilic erythroblast. The nucleus is still spherical and the cytoplasm has taken on a bluish hue as the RNA levels rise. At "E" are two erythroid cells with the upper cell being a late polychromatophilic erythroblast and the lower being a normoblast. Compare the size and density of the two nuclei. The cell labeled "F" is a mature eosinophil.
