Esophagus & Stomach 07

Hide Legend
Full frame width = 395 um

This thin plastic section shows a portion of the cardiac stomach of a monkey. The field extends from the serosal surface (bottom right), well into the muscularis externa. In the center of the field is part of the myenteric plexus; note the myenteric neuron to the left of the "My". The fact that most of the smooth muscle cells closest to the serosa have been cut in cross-section suggests that this section was cut perpendicular to the 'long' axis of the stomach.
