Full frame width = 1100 um
This material was stained with Verhoff's elastic stain; it is from the same block of material as slide H04a. In the center of the field is a small muscular artery, whose internal elastic lamina is especially well-stained. Because the media of this vessel has 3-4 layers of smooth muscle it is too large to be considered an arteriole. Although the extent of the tunica adventitia is hard to define, small strands of elastin (arrows) mark the approximate boundary between media and adventitia.
Slide K-11, field K19 of finder slide A, 16X objective.
