Peripheral blood smear. Visible in this field is one nucleated cell, labeled "A". This cell is a medium lymphocyte. Lymphocytes may be classified as small, medium or large based on cell size and the ratio of nuclear/cytoplasmic volume. This is a morphological classification and does not denote functional status ( e.g. T vs. B cell).
